Bosnia and Herzegovina Women's National Football Team + Trainers
Development and international participation
The Bosnia and Herzegovina women's national football team was officially established in 2007 under the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina (NFSBiH), one of the last European nations to form a senior women's side, with the appointment of its first coach and the launch of initial training programs aimed at developing basic skills and team structure.[16][17]
The team's first recorded international match was an 11–0 loss to Slovakia on 2 September 1997 in Šaľa. Between 1997 and 2007, the team played sporadic friendlies, with the first win recorded as 5–0 against Northern Ireland on 19 September 2007. The 2010 friendly against Austria ended in a 0–6 defeat, underscoring the nascent stage of the program and the need for competitive experience.
Bosnia and Herzegovina entered UEFA Women's Euro qualifiers for the first time in 2013, competing in the preliminary round and gaining exposure against stronger European opponents, while also participating in early FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying cycles to establish a presence on the global stage. Parallel to these efforts, the NFSBiH invested in youth systems, including under-17 and under-19 programs, and supported the professionalization of the domestic league, which helped expand the player pool from a limited base rooted in post-war recovery.
