Why did I stop a few things? 19.

Why did I stop organising crochet events in Denmark?

I used to make a lot of knitting and crochet projects, some to wear, some to decorate homes, some for mindfulness, some to promote chakras and similar ideas. I had a big collection of crochet arts with Art Deco style drawings to empower women. The aim was to give them back their self-appreciation and the ability to love themselves.

I applied for events in Vanløse, Copenhagen, at the Kulturcenter or Station, which was connected with the library.

I had to wait several months to get approval. I had to work with a girl who was from Greece and had an architecture education. She was married to a Danish-Greek person and had a 7-month-old son. It was in 2017. She herself had an Erasmus exchange program in Denmark, so she was also involved in Danish education as an architecture student during her university studies. But she was not hired; nobody gave her a job.

Yes!

- a person with higher education

- a person married to a Danish person

- a woman

- a mother

- and much more

So she organised a Cultural Connection volunteering-based system in Vanløse. I was one of her projects.

I had to get approval for every point of the event, the presentation, and the promotion materials.

Then I got the room for if I organised a free event, where everyone could just show up without paying!

I had to provide my materials, like yarn, crochet hook and more for free...

Yes!

I had a big project, like a history exhibition, and I made self-designed dresses, so I had a showroom as well, plus the women empowerment crochet- Art Deco style exhibition. I also shared a lot of small projects, plus kids' gifts and more...

I had books from the library, and personal books as well.

My event was a success, with a minimum of 20 people participating.

How?

I advertised it on a lot of social media platforms.

Then I got a very jealous Polish neighbour, who lived around 50-100m from me.

She had an MA in Economics from Poland, she also had a child, and her husband worked in IT.

She repeatedly told the participants that my yarns are not good, the crochet hooks are not even expensive enough, and much more... I did not say anything about her bitter comments.

I purchased the yarn from Søstrene Grene and the crochet hooks from Flying Tiger, from my own budget. I did not mention it during the event, as I was not allowed to promote any company during the free event.

I found her behaviour very disrespectful towards Denmark and Danish companies.

Plus, she was not ready to organise any event.

Around a year later, finally, she managed to pull together something; it was making mandalas from dry pasta...

What did I do to explain how to integrate themselves with locals and foreigners during another event about crochet?

I explained how to be grateful for Denmark, how to accept culture and history.

Was it a success?

No.

Why?

My events caused huge problems for local Danish mothers.

They were on maternity leave, and they did not know how to be grateful.

A lot of them wanted to go back to work, no mindfulness, no relaxation, no peace, no happy feelings....

So they felt that they are not good mother if they do not know how to knit, crochet and a lot of other handicrafts.

On the other hand, they were super jealous of my products and decorations.

I used to work on this website from 2016 to 2018:

Why did I start this website and these projects?

To heal emotionally from the fact that I lost my first pregnancy.

Not everybody has the same pain! And they still come and try to take what you have!
